A YOUNG Bulgarian woman who snatched the bag of a 79-year-old Brechin woman, has been jailed for nine months.
Anastasiya Yordanova, aged 26, was one of two eastern Europeans who re-appeared before Sheriff Kevin Veal at Forfar Sheriff Court last Thursday.
Last month, Yordanova and Angelina Varbanova (aged 21), both of London, pleaded guilty to two charges of stealing purses and their contents in St. David’s Street, Brechin, and in the Roods, Kirriemuir on May 27.
The court heard the pair had followed their victims in and out of shops in Kirriemuir and Brechin and were seen by staff and other customers to be acting suspiciously.
Each victim subsequently discovered their purse missing and a police operation tracked the pair on CCTV to Arbroath town centre.
Sentence had been deferred until last Thursday for reports, but the court was informed that no material was available for Varbanova.
Sentence on her was further deferred until July 21.
