Local police probe opportunist theft

Police in Brechin are seeking information on a number of crimes that have occurred over the past week.

Sometime around 6.30 p.m. on Thursday, November 15, a member of the public left two cardboard boxes of groceries and two shopping bags of groceries at the foot of the path in Distillery Road, (bottom of Cookston Road) which leads up to the Co-operative store. The person was only away for a short time placing an advert in the Co-op but on their return, the two shopping bags and contents were missing.

Sometime between 1 and 2 p.m. on Friday, November 16, two black nylon Halti training dog leads were taken from the windowsill of an address in the High Street, Brechin. Police are currently checking CCTV for any evidence.

If you have picked up either of these items with the intention of handing them into Police as found property, please do so at your earliest convenience as theft by finding is a crime.

Sometime between 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 14, and 8.45 a.m. on Thursday, November 15, a stone or similar was thrown at a window of the Primary 2/3 class at Andover Primary School, causing it to crack.

Sometime between 9.30 p.m. on Saturday, November 17. and 11 a.m. on Sunday, November 18, a blue Seat Leon, a black Nissan and a blue Audi motor car all had their wing mirrors broken off whilst the vehicles were parked and unattended in Market Street, Brechin. It appears that the mirrors had all been kicked.

Sometime over the weekend, a Perspex panel in a door at Brechin Bowling Club, Argyll Street, Brechin was damaged after a stone was thrown at it.

Police are appealing for witnesses or for anyone with any information to contact them regarding any of these crimes by contacting them on 0300 111 2222 or calling at the Brechin Police office.
