Angus North and Mearns MSP, Nigel Don, has said that the SNP government is delivering more police and safer communities.
The latest police numbers show that their policy of recruiting additional police officers is paying off for residents of Don’s constituency.
The newly published figures show that as of March 31, there were 1,512 full time equivalent police officers serving in the Grampian area, an increase of 10 per cent on the 1,374 that were in place in the first quarter of 2007.
Across Scotland, the SNP have delivered 1,261 additional police officers, a national increase of 7.8 per cent.
Commenting, Mr Don said: “The number of police officers in the Grampian area has gone up by 10 per cent and in Tayside by eight per cent.
“There is no substitute for bobbies on the beat and that is what we have delivered, with police numbers in Grampian having increased by more than the national average.”
