The referendum on the UK’s membership of the European Union will be held on Thursday, June 23, and tomorrow (Tuesday) is the deadline for voter registration.
Put simply, if you’re not registered to vote then you won’t be able to take part. Anyone who is not already registered is advised to go to www.gov.uk/register-to-vote now so that they do not miss out on having their say on polling day.
Voters that are already registered do not need to register again for the EU Referendum.
You should have received the Electoral Commission’s impartial voting guide that explains how to register to vote, the different ways of voting and what to do on polling day.
The deadline to register is on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, so time is fast running out if you are not already registered. Registering could not be easier - it takes less than five minutes to fill in the online form.
You can also apply using a paper form, by requesting one from your Electoral Registration Officer at Ravenswood, New Road, Forfar, DD8 2ZA, (01307) 462416
and returning it by the deadline.
If you have received a poll card then you are registered to vote and you do not need to take any further action.
