Youths from Brechin spent two hours doing their bit to help make their City a better place last week: by clearing up litter from Brechin Den (writes Shona Beaton).

The project called “Little By Little” was formed by Andrew Laurie MSYP to allow young people to take part in a little project to make other community members a little happier.

“Last year I was elected as the MSYP for North Angus and Mearns to represent young people,” explained Andrew.

“I am also doing a lot of good as well, and showing that young people do a lot to help their communities.

“The idea for Little by Little is that you get a lot of people all over the world that try and do big things and getting the greatest results, and I am not saying there is anything wrong with that, but this project is about us helping the local community by doing little tasks. We have started here because myself and my friend Cammie Mathieson were walking along and we noticed the amount of cans there was and then we decided why not just go for the whole thing.

“There was a good response from people on Facebook and Twitter with people wanting to join in and it just shows that young people do want to help. It is just a little project to make people a little happier.”

Other MSYPs are now in the process of creating their own Little By Little projects with one starting up in Edinburgh.
