Over £1275 raised at the funeral of Brechin Advertiser reporter Steve Mitchell has been donated to two organisations close to Steve’s heart.

Benefiting from the generosity of people who gathered to pay their final respects to a 42--year-old who played a leading role in the community are Stracathro Hospital’s Macmillan Centre ( £975.21) andBrechin City Football Club (£300).

Steve’s wife Kymm thanked everyone for their donations.

She said: “The Macmillan Centre at Stracathro was always a first choice for Steve and myself.

“The centre looked after Steve’s mum Mary as well as my dad Bob Hall.

“I chose to give a donation to the football club because Steve always said that he would donate money to The Glebe as soon as he won the lottery.

“As this is no longer possible I wanted to donate the money in his name.

“I would like to thank everyone who donated money to these funds.”

Kymm was joined by Steve’s dad Doug and brother Andy at a presentation last week, when they handed over cheques to staff nurse Maureen Phillips and chairman of the Brechin City Football Club, Ken Ferguson.
