The Secretary of State for Scotland has approved the acquisition of 15.97 acres at the Banks of Brechin as the site for the new High School, Brechin and District Education Sub-Committee was told last week. The new school would have to be ready for the 1970-71 intake, Rector Anderson told the Committee. He had made a survey of pupils for the years ahead, and there was definitely going to be a rise in the school population at the time when it was proposed to raise the school leaving age. Since no new school building programmes, costing over £100,000 were being allowed in Angus for 2.5 years, the delay for Brechin was not as long as appeared.
