Drain concern raised at meeting

Concerns about the drains between Edzell and The Burn House were highlighted at Inveresk Community Council’s August meeting.

A member of the public raised the concern at the meeting held in Glenesk Retreat.

She said: “When it rains, large areas of water gather on the road and I noticed that when the water clears, there are drains there but they do not seem to be coping.

“I’ve seen a lorry in the village clearing out drains. How often is that being done?

“It’s obvious that the drains between the village and The Burn House are not cleared enough.”

Councillor Jim Houston urged her to report it to the council so it can be investigated. He said: “I would recommend contacting the ACCESSLine and reporting it. Then it can be investigated as to why its not draining properly.

“The drains are cleared in a cycle but if there is a particular problem, it can be investigated.”

Councillor Houston also reminded those at the meeting that the ACCESSLine number for Angus Council had been changed.

The new number, which came in to use earlier this month, is 03452 777 778.
