Last Thursday. Brechin High School pupils of all ages took part in a 12 hour football event to raise money for charity.
The event started at 12 noon and saw on-going games of football until 12 at night.
There were eight teams taking part, each team adopted a World Cup football team; Brazil, Cameroon, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Faroe Islands, Spain and USA.
The event saw 14 rounds of non-stop football, with two semi-finals and a final.
Trophies were given out to individuals for their efforts during the day. The winners were as follows:-
Top male goal scorer - Kerr Hendry (S4).
Top female scorer - Katie Moore (S5).
Player of the Tournament - Harry Barclay (S4).
‘Plonker’ of the tournament - Jason Boyes (S4).
The favourite team from the beginning was Cameroon who looked set to win right from the start, but tough competition from USA, Spain, and Faroe Islands saw their chance to claim the trophy disappear.
In the final we saw Faroe Islands, beat USA two goals to one to win the Trophy.
The day, as usual, was a huge success and estimated to raise over £1,000 for good causes.
