Back to school for Scottish Hydro team

Stracathro Primary pupils recently got help from a team of workers from the Scottish Hydro who helped spruce up the school’s garden.

The school was contacted by the team, from the Scottish Hydro, who run a scheme which sees volunteers from the company undertake projects within the community.

Carrie Milne, from the Montrose branch of the Scottish Hydro, explained: “Thanks to our community volunteering project, ‘Community at Heart’, you can ask a team of our employees to work with you for a whole day.

“You provide the materials and we will provide the hands to carry out the work.”

The team arrived at the school ready to work, producing some excellent results.

“The team were brilliant,” explained a spokesperson from the school.

“They arrived early with their overalls and a sense of humour.

“They prepared and painted our garden shed, two garden tables and a bench, dug out a dead tree and weeded the vegetable patch in our secret garden.

“They also varnished some beautiful artwork the children had been working on for an outside mural. The whole school is very grateful for all their hard work and would like to say a big thank you to the team.”
