Book launch by a pupil at Brechin High School

A second year pupil at Brechin High School could soon become very popular with all her classmates.

Iona MacLeod is the brains behind getting a top author to visit the school next month.

She has organised for acclaimed children’s author Lari Don to visit the school as part of the official launch of her first teen thriller Mind Blind.

School librarian Heather Stewart said she understood that Brechin High School was the only school in Angus that Lari Don was to be visiting.

“This initiative is the brainchild of Iona MacLeod,” said Heather.

“This is a brilliant example of youth citizenship and the four capacities of the Curriculum for Excellence - young people to be successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors,” she added.

“This event will be a positive celebration of literacy for the local community with an acclaimed author and young people”.

Lari Don will be at the school on Wednesday, May 7.
