A former Brechin High School pupil is proving a model student at Dundee College.

Kat Temple is currently a level 5 hairdressing student at the college’s Kingsway Campus.

The 17-year-old has volunteered to help fellow student, Michael Johnston, in a bid to win a national competition.

Xposure, is Wella Professionals’ UK-wide competition aimed at colleges and Dundee College has two HNC students taking part.

In a bid to make the cut HNC students Rosie Myles and Michael Johnston had to photograph a cut and colour which they each created for stage one of the contest.

Kat was happy to be ‘in the frame’ in terms of modelling Michael’s creation, so much so that the student came into college the week before her course restarted in January to complete the competition task.

Michael chose a range of pinks, lilac and mauve to colour Kat’s hair before doing a precision cut to complement his colour choice.

Hairdressing lecturer Craig Millar offered his photographic services and the students, on completion of their work, put their trust in his skills with a camera.

The students must now wait to see if their photographic entries will win them a place in the regional heats.
