It’s been a busy few weeks at Maisondieu Nursery, with children taking part in sports day, visiting a new soft play centre and welcoming their own chicks.

Sports day was held on Friday, June 6, and due to the rain, it was held indoors but this did not dampen the children’s spirits.

They all had fun participating in various races including the sack, egg and spoon, obstacle, crawling and running races. A spokesperson for the nursery said: “Even the mums and dads had a race at the end! We would like to thank Debbie Smith our Pupil Voice Chair for coming along and helping out in the afternoon.”

There was great excitement for the children when the chicken eggs they had in an incubator finally hatched. The children have enjoyed learning about life cycles and loved picking the names for the chickens. The spokesperson added: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Steel who kindly gave us the eggs, shared his expertise with the children and continues to look after the chickens back on the farm now.”

Maisondieu Nursery children also enjoyed a visit to the newly opened Crazy Castle. They all had great fun exploring the new play facility.
