Community gala raises almost £2000

The Andover Community Gala, held on Saturday, September 24, was a huge success, raising almost £2000.

The total raised was £1978.93. After deducting all expenditure the Parent Council’s funds received a boost of £1395. A donation of £150 will be given to the cricket club.

Chairperson from the Parent Council, Mrs Mimiec, and Head Teacher at Andover, Mrs Howson said: “We would like to thank everyone very much for your positive support.

“Whether you baked/donated gifts/served on a stall or put up tents/carried tables – it was much appreciated.

“Several people have commented on the great atmosphere on the Saturday and it was enhanced by the lovely sunshine.”

Prize-winners from Saturday were as follows: Balloon race – no responses as of yet.

Pet show – First dog – Niamh Coutts (husky); Other pet – Cody Leatherbarrow (rabbit); Gary Anderson (giant tortoise); Arron Jackson (terrapin).

Duck’s weight (3.25kg) – Mrs Murray (Taylor) winning a Brymer’s voucher.

As well as a successful gala a number of nursery children from the school won prizes at the local flower show.

Winners from the nursery were as follows: Lady Boyd Orr trophy 116-117 – Best entry - Jack Wood. Gold medal – Cameron Saunders; 114 Roald Dahl – Isabella Mimiec; 115 Decorated Egg – Isabella Mimiec, Ava Croll, Archie Croll; 116 Lego Model – Jack Wood, Cameron Ritchie, Taylor Murray; Miniature garden – Cameron Saunders, Hannah Mimiec.
