Brechin Active School Cross Country race 2012 took place recently, attracting almost 100 participants.

The event is held at Brechin High School every year for primary six and primary seven pupils to enter.

The top ten finishers receive medals to merit their success, the top three pupils in each group also receive Bronze, Silver and Gold Certificates and the winner is presented with the Brechin Active Schools Cross Country Shield.

This year’s race had a fantastic 95 entries with children choosing to run for fun or for competition. The race is also a good indicator for pupils who wished to enter the Angus Primaries Cross Country event which was held at Lochside in Forfar on the March 14.

A huge congratulations to girls winner Kayla Bowie from Tarfside Primary School and boys winner Ryan Scott from Maisondieu – who made it across the finish line in record time with only one shoe!
