Jane Kendal, dinner lady at Tarfside School was a finalist in the recent Tayside Contracts Awards for Excellence ‘Favourite Dinner Lady’ competition.

Jane made it to the final three, and although not selected for the award, was delighted to have been nominated by the children from Tarfside.

Jane said: “It was so nice to be nominated. I love being the dinner lady at Tarfside.

“The children are so friendly and polite and the staff make me feel that I really am part of the school.”

The children had plenty to say about why they thought Jane should have won the award.

“She is always happy and makes us laugh,” said Kayla from P7. “She brings our meals all the way up from Brechin High School, no matter what gets in her way,” commented Tommy from P6. “One day there was a fallen tree blocking the road and she had take the long way round so that we got our lunch.

Isabella from P2 said: “I would definitely give her ten out of ten!”
