It was back to school for pupils across Angus today with the district’s primary one pupils stepping out for the first time.
Councillor Sheena Welsh, Angus Council’s Children and Learning Convener, extended a warm welcome saying: “It’s an exciting time for all pupils, parents, carers and teachers and I’d like to welcome everyone at the start of the new school year.
“In particular I’d like to welcome new pupils into primary one and wish them well with their school careers.
“This year Angus pupils recorded the best SQA exam results in the past five years. While SQA exams are a long way off, these recent results show the quality of education they can look forward to receiving.”
Among the new primary one pupils throughout the district were 20 sets of twins - including three sets at Langlands Primary School in Forfar.
The twins will start their primary education at Andover Primary School, Birkhill, Burnside, Carlogie (two sets), Edzell, Grange (two sets), Hayshead, Inverbrothock, Ladyloan (two sets), Langlands (three sets), Northmuir (two sets),
Rosemount (two sets) and Whitehills.
