If you go down to the Nature Trail you’ll be sure of a big surprise, because that’s where fairies reside thanks to a local school.

Pupils at Maisondieu Primary have helped brighten up the nature trail by the public park, introducing ‘Fairy Doors’ and wooden homes along the route.

The trail was opened on December 1 by pupils and their head teacher Mrs Connie Tough, who has retired after seven years in charge at the school.

The fairy houses were designed by pupils at the school, while the fairy doors, which had been bought from the charity shop, had been decorated by members of the local community in a bid to encourage exploration.

A spokesperson from the school explained: “The idea came from the parent voice with the hope of encouraging children to explore and walk in their local community.

“All of the children enjoyed finding the fairy houses made by the pupils of Maisondieu.

“It took a tremendous effort and creativity by the parents and children to create and install the trail.”
