Maisondieu recently held its annual Music Maker Competition, which is open to all primary six and seven pupils. The standard was very high with over 20 children taking part. They demonstrated their rich and varied musical talents, which included singing, orchestral strings, brass and piano.
Shannon and Nathan, sixth year pupils from Brechin High School, along with Mrs Jackson, depute headteacher and teacher of music, formed the panel of judges. The winner of the strings category was Alix Morland (P7) playing ‘Let It Go’ on her violin. Jodie Gillespie (P7) won the voice section, singing ‘Jar of Hearts’ and ‘Years and Years’.In the other instrumental section, Erin Hoggins (P7) played ‘Strange Things Happen’ on the piano. The overall winner of the competition was Lucy Crabb (P6), who played ‘Evergreen’ on the horn accompanied by Hazel Judge.
