Presentation day at Lathallan School

Lathallan School, Johnshaven, hosted its annual Presentation Day on Saturday, July 7.

The Lathallan Pipe Band opened and closed the day. A music concert showcased the talents of pupils on piano, drums, violin and choirs performed a variety of musical numbers. The concert concluded with the entire audience performing ‘Sing’, the Diamond Jubilee song.

Sir Professor Graeme Catto, Chairman of the Board of Governors, welcomed all parents, staff, families and pupils and congratulated them on a busy and successful year.

Mr Richard Toley, Headmaster outlined all the successes of sports teams and individuals throughout the year and looked to the future with the announcement that the new Sports Pavilion will begin to be constructed later this year.

He welcomed the Guest Speaker Pipe Band Major Jim Wark of Strathclyde Police Band. Mr Wark is the 10 times World Pipe Band Championship winner.

He gave an inspirational speech to all the pupils encouraging them always to do their best and strive to achieve their potential. Presentation of all the school trophies and cups took place.

Outgoing Consuls Jack Marsden and Beth Woodford delivered excellent speeches recalling their happy times at Lathallan and how the school has shaped them for future achievements.

Hundreds of guests enjoyed the Lathallan hospitality on Saturday and pupils are now off on holiday until September.
