Active Schools and Angus Sports Development Fun Festivals have been taking place across Angus lately with Brechin playing host to the North Angus Fun in Athletics competition at the Brechin Leisure Centre on Friday, November 16.

Children from primaries six and seven from Maisondieu, Andover and The Rurals (Edzell, Stracathro, Lethnot and Tafside) took part in relay races, javelin, speed bounce, standing long-jump, standing triple-jump and vertical-jump events, with The Rurals coming out as the ‘Best of Brechin’.

“Unfortunately as the event is for North Angus, Warddykes from Arbroath went home as winners but The Rural team should be very pleased with a close second in the tournament and becoming the ‘Best of Brechin’ team for this year,” said Brechin’s Active School’s co-ordinator, Kelly Moonlight.

On Monday, November 19, the primary three children in the Brechin cluster got the opportunity to take part in a fun rugby festival.

Over 90 children attended and took part in four skills stations, all designed to develop their rugby skills.

The sessions were led by Brechin Community Coach Taylor Wood and sports leaders from Brechin High School.

Thanks were extended to Angus Rugby Development Officer, Stewart Ross, for helping organise another well attended tournament.
