Children from New Friends Nursery took a trip to Brechin Cathedral recently as part of a project

Susan Barr, manager of New Friends said: “Our children became interested in the round tower a few months ago when they visited it and enjoyed wondering what it was for, how you can get into the high door, who may have lived in it (princesses and witches were the favourite) etc.

“They also managed to use it for art purposes, taking rubbings and making their own stained glass windows.

“They noticed it again a couple of weeks ago, so we took them back so that they could revisit their learning and enjoyed sharing with friends who had not been there before their witch stories and carried on thinking of ways to get into the tower. This was a great opportunity for children to learn about history in their community and have fun at the same time.”
