Scaling the crane for charity

editorial image

On Friday, December 21, Archie Bathgate (Rector of Brechin High School) climbed up the 26 meter crane that is currently dominating the skyline of Brechin. He raised a whopping £69 for Save The
Children which was added to the total of the money raised by the Christmas jumper day (see
page nine for more).

His goal was to sit in the cab of the crane, but to get to the cab Mr Bathgate had to climb through the ring at the top
of the crane. The hatch on the ring is very small and
claustrophobic. The rector enjoyed the experience and got some great photos on his way up. Well done to Mr Bathgate (pictured in orange) for scaling the crane despite it being a cold and windy day.
