Only three weeks after receiving letters informing them of the decision to mothball Stracathro Nursery for the 2012/2013 session, parents of children at Stracathro nursery were relieved to hear the news that the council has reviewed its decision and has decided to keep the doors open next term.
A spokesperson for the parents said: “We are delighted that the council has made this decision. It is wonderful news.
“Stracathro is such a fantastic facility which is recognised not only by parents in the community, but also by the parents of the Brechin pupils who choose to travel the short distance to place their children here.
“Our school motto is ‘Small but Mighty’ which is a badge that we are very proud of, and like to live up to!
“We appreciate that the council continues to recognise us as an important pre-school and primary education provider to the Brechin and Edzell area. It was a brief, but stressful period when we believed that our youngest children would not be able to continue their education in the same environment as their siblings, however the council have listened to our concerns and we can now enter the summer break with a weight lifted from our shoulders.”
The children at the nursery celebrated during their sports day on Wednesday where they competed in a variety of races and each were rewarded with stickers on their scorecards for their achievements.
