A group of volunteers attended a bench dedication ceremony at Brechin public park in honour of Davina Mackie, who sadly passed away last year.
The ceremony, which was held at the park on Saturday, August 17, saw a bench dedicated to Davina, who was a very active member of the community and is very sadly missed.
Her sister, Yvonne, spoke on behalf of her family and thanked everyone for attending.
After the dedication, the volunteers did a litter clean- up around the park and nature trail areas. A huge amount was collected, but sadly a break in the nice weather resulted in an early finish.
A few people commented about organising a possible clean-up in other areas of the town.
A spokesperson for the event commented: “A big thank you to all who came along and gave up their time.”
Volunteers for these events are always needed and all help is welcomed.
The clean-up was organised by the Brechin Park group, who called a public meeting on the issue of litter and dog mess in the public park and nature trails in the town.
If anyone would like to be involved with helping keep the public park and nature trail areas clean and maintained, the next meeting of the Brechin Park group takes place on October 7 at 7 p.m. in the Damacare Centre.
