A Brechin family has realised over £7,000 for the Sick Kids friends Foundation, through their own fund-raising and donations.

Hannah Church, along with her father Andy, has been raising money for The Sick Kids Friends Foundation, which supports the work of the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Edinburgh.

The family set about fund-raising for the charity after Hannah, who has scoliosis, underwent three life changing operations - including an eight day sting at Edinburgh Royal Hospital for Sick Children in 2012.

The family was greatly helped by the Sick Kids Friends Foundation during Hannah’s stay in hospital.

Andy said: “My daughter has, with my help, raised a massive £3,192.50 for the Sick Kids Friends Foundation at present.”

The money has been raised through cheque and cash donations, guess the number of sweets competition, guess the teddy’s birthday competition, a Christmas raffle and a collection box.

Deano Greig has also boosted the family’s fund-raising initiative, by donating £3,000 at the Bridgend Bar last Wednesday, along with another £200 from the Brechin Vics’ Bingo players.

Hannah and Andy accepted the cheque alongside two of her friends, Rhiann McCombie and Charley Hancox.

Andy said: “He has collected for the charity on Hannah’s behalf after hearing about her illness and all she has been through during her three life changing operations.

“Hannah would like to thank the Brechin Vics’ bingo players for their very kind donation.”

Mr Greig was able to raise the incredible amount thanks to help from his family, friends and work colleagues.

So far, the Church family, along with the money donated last week, have been able to raise over £7,000 for charity.

Andy added: “We would like to thank every single person who has helped Hannah raise this amount of fund-raising to this point in time.

“We also have a big football match arranged Brechin posties versus Montrose posties with posties and managers taken part pledging a days wedge and I think our employer may match the contribution of employees.

“This will take place at Glebe Park at the end of the season so a big thank you to Brechin City FC committee for agreeing to allow us the use of the pitch.”
