Two local businesses with a love of dogs have teamed together to help collect food and treats for abandoned dogs.

Debbie Farquharson of Country Canines dog grooming, Edzell and Ross Robertson of Westro Animal Supplies have joined to support “Help for Abandoned Animals” (HFAA) - a local charity which relies on the generosity of the public.

Each business will have a collection tub in their stores where people can donate dog food either tinned or dry which will then be donated to HFAA in time for Christmas.

HFAA is a local charity based in Arbroath who look after the county’s stray dogs. The charity was founded in 1997 by Isobel Arthur and is managed and staffed entirely by volunteers.

They have always managed to feed their dogs through donations from the public. This year, however, they have had to buy food as well as having to foot a vet bill of around £9000 for spaying and neutering dogs in their care, for this reason Debbie and Ross decided it would be good to help collect food to help feed the dogs at Christmas.

If you have some food that you can donate, pop along to Country Canines, Near Gibbs, Arhall, Edzell or Westro Animal Supplies, West Road, Brechin by Monday, December 19 to help feed a dog for Christmas.
