Angus Council’s neighbourhood services committee has approved the arrangements for waste and recycling collections during the festive period.
As public holidays fall on December 25 and 26, 2012 and January 1 and 2, 2013, collections will be carried out during the three working days available each week. Householders and businesses affected by the altered schedule will receive handbills with details of the changes to the collection days.
Recycling centres and public toilets will be closed on the public holidays and bulky uplifts rescheduled.
There will be reduced levels of street cleaning on these dates, although a skeleton service will be provided on the morning of January 1 to deal with Hogmanay littering.
There will be no collections of green garden waste bins for four weeks from December 17 to allow staff to be reallocated to general waste and recycling collections during the festive period.
The committee approved the arrangements at their meeting on Thursday, November 15.
