Flood prevention scheme latest

ANGUS Council has revealed an updated timetable for the Brechin flood prevention scheme now that the objection to it has been withdrawn.

Under the new timetable, a modified scheme is set to be submitted to the Scottish Ministers for confirmation by the end of November 2012.

A planing application decision is hoped to be made in January 2013. Provided the planning permission is granted, a funding application will be submitted to the Scottish Government early in 2013.

It is hoped that a two stage report to infrastructure services committee, occurring in March 2013 and March 2014, will include an update on, and if appropriate, recommendations based on the grant funding decisions requesting procurement authority for utility diversionary works and main contract, and payment of land compensations. The required design works for Scottish Water apparatus, presently allowed for as a risk allocation to the overall scheme, would need to be completed. This is scheduled to take place between April 2013 and February 2014.

A CAR licence application will be submitted to SEPA in May 2013, with an aim to obtaining it in August of the same year. The award of the construction contract is scheduled for March 2014, with work scheduled for April 2014.
