After completing the Angus Marafun in May, the Forster Group has raised over £1,500 for local cancer research charity, Ninewells Cancer Campaign (NCC).
As well as being the medal sponsor, the Brechin-based company surprised the organisers by signing up three teams.
Dave Valentine, Convener of the Angus Rotary Marafun, commented: “Forster’s have been great sponsors. As well as raising a fantastic amount, their efforts have raised the profile of the event”.
Following successful finishes from all three Forster teams, £1,584.22 was raised for the Dundee based cancer charity.
Forster Group Chairman, John Forster, said: “We are delighted to support the exceptional work of the Ninewells Cancer Campaign – by raising much needed funds and helping to raise awareness of the charity.”
The funds were raised mainly through the generous contributions of a number of Forster suppliers and partners, including Walker Group, Ewan Clyde Scaffolding and Marley Eternit and through donations made by staff, friends and family.
Forster marketing graduate Kristaps Bezbailis added: “We would like to thank everyone for their kind donations. We got an amazing response and the motivating messages really helped. We are already looking forward to taking part in the next Angus Marafun in two years’ time and hopefully we can sign up even more teams.”
Vice Chairman of the NCC, Aubrey Wood, said: “On behalf of the Ninewells Cancer Campaign, I would like to thank all the individuals at the Forster Group, who got together and raised the magnificent total of almost £1,600 at the Marafun. This really will make a difference to the work at the Jacqui Wood Cancer Centre, where world leading research is being carried out into the causes and treatment of cancer.”
