The CEO of Voluntary Action Angus, Gary Malone, has spoken enthusiastically about the week-long activity programme to support Volunteer Week in Angus this June.
He said: “A few years ago, I was fortunate to have an opportunity of addressing a prize-giving ceremony at Forfar Academy. My address was around an Angus that actively cares about all people. Since then, many young people have come forward as volunteers and made a significant contribution to their communities.
“Over the next week, your local newspaper will highlight the importance of volunteering, the impact volunteers make and how you can get involved. I am delighted to be working in partnership with Johnston Press and look forward to our joint working over the next few weeks.”
Throughout volunteer week there will be plenty of opportunity for people in Angus to find out how they can get involved. A variety of organisations will be highlighting their volunteering opportunities in Voluntary Action Angus, Forfar Centre from Monday, June 1 to Friday June 5. To find out more, get in touch with Morag or Sharon on 01241 875525 or 01307 466113.
A roadshow will also be arriving in Brechin High Street on Thursday, June 4, from 12.30 to 2.30 pm.
VAA is also hosting a family fun day on Sunday, June 7, at Arbroath West Links from 12 to 3 pm. The event is free, and includes a variety of activities.
