Edzell Health Centre in Angus will be holding the next Patient Participation Group meeting on Tuesday, June 11, at 6 p.m.
If you are registered with Edzell Health Centre and want to find out more about your local health centre and the services it provides then you are invited to come along to the next meeting of the health centre’s Patient Participation Group.
This meeting will begin with a short presentation about the General Practice Contract which is aimed at helping patients to understand the context in which their local general practice has to work. During the evening group members will also have the opportunity to discuss house visiting policy and dementia services as well as plan future topics for discussion.
In March, Edzell Health Centre held an inaugural meeting which was aimed at exploring the local community’s interest in forming a Patient Participation Group within the practice.
At that meeting Dave Davidson, local officer for the Scottish Health Council Tayside, gave an overview of Patient Participation Groups to members of the public who attended the meeting. He went on to explain the important role that Patient Participation Groups play in providing a communication forum for patients and general practice staff to discuss areas for improvement or development locally.
Dr Marc Jacobs also gave an enthusiastic commitment on behalf of the practice to the development of a Patient Participation Group, reinforcing how keen the practice team are to continuously improving the services they deliver. He also highlighted at the meeting that in addition to the general practice team, a range of visiting services are currently delivered within Edzell Health Centre and a Patient Participation Group has the potential to influence healthcare provision in the area.
