Friends of Stracathro have built on their donation work this year by presenting the hospital with equipment for the stroke rehab unit.

The group donated a Bolero bath to help bed-bound patients have dignity in the bath, and means only one nurse needs to be on hand.

They also donated an Ibis pro-tilt chair, which gives patients more support and are manoeuvrable.

Chairperson of the group, Ruth Leslie Melville said: “We see a great need to support patients and staff in our superb stroke unit, which explains why we have responded positively to the request for this equipment.”

Ruth added: “Last year we donated £100,000 worth of equipment for the benefit of Stracathro Hospital. We are working hard this year to do something similar and through the generosity of the people of Angus and Mearns it seems we will be able to top that.

“Stracathro is an integral and essential part of the NHS for Tayside. This is in part due to the support of NHS Tayside chief executive Gerry Marr and the Health Board as a result of their vision for Stracathro.”
