Help available to quit smoking

Have your say

A new NHS Tayside smoking cessation group is to be introduced later this month for people who want to kick the habit.

The evening smoking cessation session will give people who cannot make the daytime groups the opportunity to benefit from the service. The group, to be based at the Conference Suite in Whitehills Health and Community Care Centre in Forfar, will run every Monday evening from 6pm until 7pm starting on August 20.

Kenny Grewar, NHS Tayside’s Angus Smoking Cessation Co-ordinator, said: “The programme offers help and advice from a friendly, trained quit smoking advisor who can refer people for medication to help with their quit as well as, most importantly, the support of others who are quitting too. We really are trying to make stop smoking groups as accessible as possible and make it easier for people to get the help and support they need to quit. These groups are open to anyone living in Angus and there is no requirement to be a patient of a particular surgery or to be from the town where the group is held.” To register contact NHS Tayside Smoke free services on 0845 600 999 6 or go along on the day.
