Innovative ideas sought to reduce alcohol intake

Community groups and organisations in Angus are being encouraged to put forward their innovative bright idea to help people drink less alcohol or reduce the problems created by excessive drinking.

The Focus on Alcohol Angus Innovation Fund seeks to find new ideas and projects that will tackle alcohol misuse in Angus and funds are available up to £1000.

Target groups for the Fund are: Young People – refusal skills, how to deal with peer pressure; Parents – how to talk to your children about alcohol, what example you set; Adults – initiatives that encourage sensible drinking; and Community Groups or Community initiatives that promote positive lifestyles.

Thane Lawrie, Senior Planning Officer, Angus Alcohol and Drugs Partnership said: “The Innovation Fund is a great opportunity for community groups and organisations to put their creative ideas into practice to help reduce the problems caused by alcohol misuse.

“I look forward to supporting local projects and seeing the outcomes.”

The closing date for applications is Friday 31 May 2013.

To apply, email alcohol@angus.gov.uk or telephone 01307 474879 for a two page application form and guidance note. Successful applicants will be required to return an End of Project Report Form (one page) within four weeks of the project finishing.
