STRACATHRO Hospital’s radiology department has been presented with a new patient monitoring system, funded by donations from across the Angus and Mearns area.

It was handed over by the Friends of Stracathro Hospital, who praised the public for their generosity.

Chairwoman Ruth Leslie Melville said: “It is remarkable that a little hospital like ours can boast having equipment which some major hospitals would envy.

“In this coming year we will be funding more ground-breaking equipment which again will mean that Stracathro will be offering patients an enhanced service.

“This hospital is loved within Angus and the Mearns and it is humbling that local people are leaving bequests to the Friends for the sole purpose of helping to develop Stracathro.”

The Friends has already presented the Susan Carnegie Centre with equipment to the value of £5,800 this year and over the course of 2012 the Charity invested £99,000 in the provision of a wide range of equipment and comfort services for the patients at the hospital.

The Friends of Stracathro Hospital is a registered charity, run entirely by volunteers, dedicated to the support of the patients and staff of Stracathro Hospital.
