NHS Tayside launch new weekly men only clinics

NHS Tayside has launched a new clinical service to help prevent HIV and improve the sexual health of gay and bisexual men.

Gay and bisexual men remain at highest risk of acquiring HIV, hepatitis B and other serious sexually transmitted infections and account for the largest proportion of individuals diagnosed and living with HIV.

NHS Tayside has acted on a number of recommendations to improve services and awareness locally following a study carried out with local men by Terrence Higgins Trust in 2012.

Weekly Men Only Tayside (MOT) clinics have started every Tuesday in the sexual and reproductive health clinic at Ninewells Hospital and in the Cairn Centre, 12 Rattray Street, Dundee.

Both clinics offer walk-in appointments between 4.30 - 7 p.m. and provide STI testing, rapid HIV testing, hepatitis B vaccination, health promotion information, access to free condoms and the opportunity to talk to health professionals about related queries.

The MOT clinic at Ninewells will provide treatment for any symptoms or problems that need attention and gay and bisexual men are always welcome within the generic service too. Find more information at www.menonlytayside.org or by emailing motinfo.tayside@nhs.net
