A SMARTPHONE app, developed to give young people information on sexual health services has been launched at Arbroath High School on Thursday.
Working with local youth group, Youth Talkin’ Health, the Sexual Health and Blood Borne Virus Managed Care Network (MCN) in Tayside have developed the ‘Need Tay Know’ app.
This app will give users information on sexual health services available, where they are provided and how to access them using maps and GPS functionality.
It also contains information on a host of topics relating to sex and relationships including pregnancy, STIs, what the risks are and how to stay safe.
NHS Tayside consultant in genito-urinary medicine Dr Ciara Cunningham said: “Tayside sexual and reproductive health service recognises that young people are disproportionately affected by sexual ill health.
“We hope that this app will make young people aware that we do have services specifically for them, how to access these and what to expect when they attend.”
‘Need Tay Know’ was designed and developed in partnership with young people across Tayside, with their input influencing all stages of the development from the look of the app to the final content.
Need Tay Know is designed for young people aged 13 to 25 and is available to download on Apple and android Smart phones along with versions for Apple and android tablets.
