Christmas has come early for the paediatrics department at Ninewells Hospital, thanks to the efforts of a group of fund-raising Brechiners.
Jess and her daughter, Sheonagh Christie, and friends Marion Harper and Vera Galt organised the ‘Another Christmas Cracker’ - a Christmas themed coffee afternoon - on Saturday, November 23.
With the help of some very generous donations the event raised an amazing £1330.
During the afternoon shoppers had the opportunity to browse stalls selling everything from jewellery, cards, candles and items for the home and garden.
They also took advantage of the winter warmers and festive fancies on offer with mulled wine being a particular favourite.
The group of fund-raisers will now use the money raised to buy toys and treats for the paediatric department.
A spokesperson for the organisers explained: “We felt it was important to focus on children as we did last year, as Christmas is a very special time for children and families.
“We will now get together with staff from the hospital to choose some toys and equipment which will make the festive period in hospital a bit more enjoyable for them.
“We have been overwhelmed with the offers of help, generous donations and support from the public and are delighted to be handing over such a huge amount.”
