There are still places available for Brechiners, with a body mass index (BMI) of over 25 , to join ‘The Winning Weigh’ weight management programme.
The programme, with weekly classes that last an hour, is run by trained staff from Angus Community Health Partnership.
The Winning Weigh programme is not a diet; it aims to help people change their eating and exercise habits which in turn help them to lose weight.
It is described as a friendly and interactive course designed specifically for people who are serious about taking on the challenge of losing weight.
At each session a trained member of staff who is supported by dietitians in Tayside will be available offering practical advice and encouragement to help people to adopt healthier lifestyle choices, improve fitness levels and reduce their body mass index.
Ongoing support will be available after the programme is completed, as there will be free drop-in sessions at the end of the class where people can just pop-in and be weighed.
To work out your BMI divide your weight in kilograms by your height in metres squared, for example 85 ÷ (1.52 x 1.52).
Anyone who is interested in joining can book their place by calling 01307 474822.
