THE FRIENDS of Stracathro Hospital have presented the Susan Carnegie Centre with equipment to the value of £5,800.

It comprised two crash trolleys, three suction machines, and an alcometer.

The presentation was made last Tuesday at the Centre, which carries on the work formerly undertaken at Sunnyside Royal Hospital, Montrose.

The chairman of the Friends, Mrs Ruth Leslie Melville, said: “It is only when you sit down and reflect on the work of the last 12 months that you realise just how much the Friends has achieved.

“During 2012 we have purchased equipment which is at the forefront of the treatment of various serious conditions.

“It is amazing to think that a small hospital such as Stracathro can offer its patients such advanced technology.

“During the last year the Charity has invested £99,000 in the provision of a wide range of equipment and comfort services for the patients.

“We work extremely closely with the NHS Tayside and appreciate their regular attendance at our meetings.

“However, the charity is only as good as its committee and I am grateful to everyone involved for their valuable input and their commitment to Stracathro Hospital.

“Our secretary, Sally Balfour, does sterling work keeping on top of her duties and the person keeping us on an even financial keel is Hamish McLauchlan.

“The other committee members bring their wisdom and tenacity to the table and those are Zoe Bing, Alistair Cochrane-Dyet, Marjorie Smith, Margaret Thomson and Susan Skene.”

Mrs Leslie Melville concluded: “If you are interested in being involved in this worthwhile work please contact me on 01356 625259.”
