The dining room located at Stracathro Hospital has been renamed following a competition that took in a total of 20 entries.
It will now be known as ‘The Pavilion @ Stracathro’, which was suggested by Lynn Smith from Arbroath, whose father, now sadly passed away, was a patient at the hospital.
Lynn and her sister Gillian used to spend time in the dining room at the time when their father was being treated at the hospital and the name of ‘The Pavilion’ came to Lynn as she and Gillian were sitting in the dining room on a warm and sunny day.
Lynn said: “The sun was streaming in through the windows and I felt the name was appropriate given the room’s glass frontage and the view outside. I’m delighted to have won the competition and it is all the more special since my father has passed away.”
Myrtle Vending donated a prize of a coffee machine and supplies which was presented to Lynn by Shona Leonard, support services manager with NHS Tayside, and David Gordon, assistant catering manager at Stracathro. The winning name was selected by NHS Tayside’s executive team.
The dining room at Stracathro opened in March last year and offers hot and cold drinks and snacks and freshly cooked food in a bright and modern environment. It is currently open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and at weekends from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
