AN EARLY Christmas present was delivered to Rachel House last week following a very successful charity event held recently in Brechin.

The ladies behind the Christmas Cracker Afternoon held in the Cathedral Hall on November 24, travelled to Kinross to hand over a cheque for £1,000 to staff at the CHAS (Children’s Hospice Association Scotland) hospice.

The money will go towards a Christmas party and activities for the children and families using the facility over the festive season.

Jess Christie, who organised the event along with her daughter Sheonagh and friends Vera Galt and Marion Harper, said: “We would like to thank most sincerely everyone who supported this event, to all the stall holders, volunteers and shoppers, and to all those who generously donated gifts and prizes for our raffle.

“We could not have done it without each and every one of you.

“We had to count the money several times before we could believe it ourselves.

“We’re absolutely delighted that we could hand over such a huge cheque and hope it goes some way to making this Christmas special for the families using the hospice.”
