As autumn’s leaves fall to the ground the problem of discarded dog mess has become a hidden danger on Brechin’s pavements.
The problem has been highlighted by one mum, who contacted The Brechiner after what she describes as “running the dog mess gauntlet” whilst walking to school with two children and a pram.
Wishing to remain anonymous, she said: “I walk from Duke Street along the Latch and up Argyll Street through St Andrew’s Church yard - the route a majority of children use.
“Even the church yard has been peppered by it almost once a week.
“I’m no expert in excrement but it appears to be several different dogs.
“I find it highly annoying as it seems to be constant and always in the middle of the pavement.”
The problem is made worse as leaves fall to the ground, covering the pavements as well as covering the dog mess, creating yet another hazard, especially for children who enjoy kicking leaves during the autumn months.
If you know the name and address of the person leaving their dog’s mess in public. you can report this to Angus Council’s ACCESSLine on 08452 777 778.
