Angus South MSP Graeme Dey was today (Tuesday) appointed Convenor of the Scottish Parliament’s Environment, Climate Change and Land Reform Committee.
The local parliamentarian was voted into the post by fellow committee members at its inaugural meeting.
Graeme Dey MSP said: “I feel hugely honoured to have been handed this role in the new Parliament.
“The remit of the committee mirrors the wide ranging portfolio responsibilities of Cabinet Secretary Roseanna Cunningham, so its workload promises to be substantial, varied and extremely important!
“I look forward to working with stakeholders and my fellow, cross party, members of the committee over the next five years not only to deliver constructive and effective scrutiny of legislation but also to stimulate progress in these vital areas.”
The remit of the ECCLR Committee includes Climate Change, flood prevention, Land Reform, the physical and marine environment, biodiversity, environmental protection, the Crown Estate and Scottish Water.
