Human remains found in Montrose have been identified as belonging to a local woman.

Police have confirmed that the remains found during the evening of Wednesday, November 4 have been formally identified as Kim MacKenzie (37) from Montrose.

Officers have also confirmed that a 28-year-old woman, who was detained on Friday, has now been arrested and charged “in relation to murder”.

She will appear at Forfar Sheriff Court tomorrow (Monday, November 9) along with the 39-year-old man who was arrested and charged on Friday in relation to the same incident.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “The family of Kim MacKenzie have been updated with these latest developments and are being supported by police family liaison officers.”

Officers have appealed to anyone who saw Kim between Monday, October 26 and Wednesday, November 4 or anyone who has any information that may assist the investigation to contact the police on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
