BRECHIN man Ian Mowatt is celebrating a feat all golfers dream of - a hole-in-one.
Playing in the Seniors Open competition at Brechin Golf Course, Mr Mowatt hit the ball straight in on the third hole, one which he told The Brechiner he hates as he usually lands in the water! “It went straight on the green, rolled up the brae, and went right in the hole”, said Mr Mowatt, who is celebrating his first ever hole-in-one, adding: “I can’t believe it happened.”
Ian, 76, of Scott Street in Brechin, described how his playing partner said: “Ian, it’s in the hole!”, as he looked for his own ball in the bunker.
Mr Mowatt said that he was “over the moon”, and treated his fellow players to a bottle of whisky back in the clubhouse to celebrate his achievement.
He also mentioned that co-incidentally his next-door neighbour, Frank Clark, had won the competition, making it a good golfing day for the street!
