A further appeal for information has been issued by Police Scotland as attempts continue to establish the identity of a man seen in the Tay on Monday.

Inspector Gordon Fotheringham said: ‘We are still trying to establish the identity of the man who was seen by members of the public ‘swimming’ in the water between Dundee and Broughty Ferry in the Stannergate area at 5.40pm on Monday.

“The man is described as being in his 40s, white and has a beard. He was wearing a red T-shirt, a black jacket, dark trousers and Converse trainers.

“Officers are still continuing with enquiries and yesterday we issued photographs of a black ‘Firetrap’ jacket and a set of keys in effort to find out who the man was. The man might have access to a Ford vehicle as there was a Ford car key on the key ring. I would appeal to anyone who recognises these items to come forward.

“We would also appeal to the man to come forward and let us know if he is safe and well.

“Anyone with any information can contact Tayside Division on 101.”
