Knitting for homeless people in Dundee

The clicking of needles can be heard all over Edzell, as scarves and gloves, beanies and blankets, are being made in advance of the cold weather to help the homeless in Dundee.

The fellowship group from Edzell Church raised money from the production of a village directory.

Using the funds raised the group decided to buy wool and invite villagers to use their knitting skills to provide extra warmth for the vulnerable people who call for a hot meal at Graham’s kitchen each Saturday night.

“People’s willingness to help others is heartwarming,” said Jean Clark, project organiser.

“It’s good to have the whole village involved in such a worthwhile project.”

Anyone in Edzell or Brechin who wish to help the project should contact Jean on 01356 648767.

Volunteers from Edzell Church have travelled down to Dundee every Saturday to help at this busy soup kitchen for the past two years.

There, they provide a hot meal, tray bake, fruit and hot drinks for up to 40 people.
