A national environmental charity is calling on community groups in Angus to join in with their ‘Flourishing at 50’ celebrations.
Keep Scotland Beautiful is asking groups to register to take part in two exciting environmental campaigns, Beautiful Scotland and It’s Your Neighbourhood, and help celebrate 50 years of community growing.
With entries to the initiatives set to close at the start of May, local volunteers and entire communities are being urged to come together and clean up and ‘green up’ the areas in which they live, work and play - and be recognised for their tireless efforts in improving their own villages, towns and cities.
Derek Robertson, Chief Executive of Keep Scotland Beautiful, said:
“We are delighted that more than 130 groups from across Scotland have registered to take part in these exciting community growing campaigns so far. More than 200 groups from across Scotland took part in last years’ initiative and we hope to see record breaking numbers participating in the 2016 golden anniversary celebrations.
“Year round, communities from across Angus do their bit to make sure their local spaces are clean, green and beautiful. The Beautiful Scotland and It’s Your Neighbourhood campaigns provide the opportunity for us to support the work they do, celebrate their achievements and encourage even more people to take part.”
Beautiful Scotland and It’s Your Neighbourhood are managed by Keep Scotland Beautiful and linked to the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Britain in Bloom campaign. For many years, the campaigns have supported and celebrated the achievements of communities throughout Scotland in their continuous work to improve local environmental quality, and Beautiful Scotland is celebrating 50 years of success in 2016.
Online registration for both campaigns will close in early May. Further information can be found at:
